OSA Annual Dinner 2024

The Old Silhillians Association Annual Dinner was held on Saturday 23rd November at the Memorial Clubhouse.

The OSA President, Simon Westwood (Shenstone 1966 - 1975), welcomed distinguished guests for an evening of exceptional food and a superb atmosphere. The guest speaker was journalist and broadcaster Stephen Cole (Fetherston 1964 – 1970) who attended along with his wife, Ann-Marie. The Chair of the Governors, Damian Kelly (Windsor 1981 – 1988), attended with two other Governors Jason Dalby and Dr Andrew Burtenshaw. The Executive Headmaster was accompanied by his wife Clare. He gave a concise and entertaining update of the school over the last twelve months. Also on the top table was Sean Morgan, Head of the best Independent Senior School in the United Kingdom.

Other School staff were also there, including the Head of Alumni Relations, Lynn Moseley with her husband Ian, the School Chaplain the Reverend Rachel Hill-Brown with her husband the Reverend Canon Duncan Hill-Brown and Lucie Ray-Barrett, Head of Marketing, with her husband Mark. Lucie took the images included herewith. We were also graced with the presence of Louise Cox and Paula Loneragan, respectively the outgoing and incoming Presidents of the St. Martin's Old Girls Association.

One unfortunate absentee was Lucy Lunt who retires from the post of Director of Alumni Relations at the end of the year. She had hoped to attend but was prevented by a medical procedure on her arm just a couple of days before.

Stephen Cole gave a very engaging talk about his work in journalism and broadcasting including his first big story at the age of 19 years; the Birmingham Pub Bombings. He also recounted his work in launching various news channels including Sky News, CNN International and Al Jazeera. As might be expected of an experienced news anchor and broadcaster, he held his audience spellbound with a very thought-provoking talk.
