Dear Alumni,
We hope you are all well and that you've enjoyed the summer months.
On return from our sabbatical in Sri Lanka at the end of March, a number of people we spoke to mentioned that they would love to consider making good use of their skills and experiences by volunteering but didn't know where to start.
With that in mind, we have been working on an initiative to highlight truly transformative volunteering opportunities in Sri Lanka, with the help of some of the contacts we made whilst there. Your native English speaking, education, professional and personal skills, and much more, would be of great benefit to one of the country's most disenfranchised communities and you yourself would have a life-changing immersive experience along the way. In every sense it's a charitable win-win, with unbound potential of long term benefits for both beneficiaries and volunteers.
We've put together with the help of the wonderful people at the Tea Leaf Trust, who work across the stunningly scenic tea plantation region to explain more. Below you'll also find a link to an online flipbook version, for easy distribution.
Volunteering opportunities in Sri Lanka for friends & alumni of Solihull School and Saint Martin's
Should this be of interest to you or someone you know at any point going forward, please don't hesitate to contact info@tealeaftrust.com to find out more. Also, following our recent visit to the Trust's HQ in Maskeliya, we're happy to be contacted and to speak of our experiences when meeting the amazing team and students there.
We loved what we saw and heard so we are reaching out to our Sri Lanka diaspora contacts across the globe, as well as to the broader community of our great school, to shine a light on first-rate volunteering opportunities that continue to make a very real and lasting difference for many.
Best wishes,
Mark & Donna Penney
