Old Sils Hockey Club celebrated another successful season on 26th April 2025 when a record 136 members and supporters enjoyed the Annual Dinner & Awards evening.
After an excellent 3-course meal (thank you Rupert Davies and team), the toast to the Club was proposed by outgoing Ladies Performance coach Sharon Smith (thank you for all you have done for us Sharon!), and reports on the Juniors, Mens and Ladies sections’ seasons were given by Steve Tabb, Adrian Plunkett and Hattie Evans.
President Jason Dalby thanked all the club’s volunteers before announcing a new fund-raising ‘200 Club’ and giving an update on the planned second artificial pitch project. He then introduced our guests from Solihull School; 1st XI Captains Freya Gallagher and Sam Sitch, Executive Headmaster Charles Fillingham and Head of Hockey Chris Mayer, before the final Awards of the night were presented.
A highlight was the presentation of an HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP to RICHARD FELL to recognise his outstanding contributions to the club as a player and umpire for 50 years. Richard was also instrumental in establishing our juniors section back in the 1980s. JOHN HARRISON, already an HLM, was presented with a pair of commemorative cufflinks to mark his 50 years of playing, during which he has clocked up an estimated 2000 matches in Sils colours.
A gallery of photos from the evening, and a showreel of the season as a whole, are available to registered OSHC members at www.silshockey.co.uk
