More than 100 Old Silhillians gathered at the Silhillians Sports Club on Wednesday 7 October 2026 for another enjoyable Over 60s Lunch, including 11 guests attending for the first time.

Peter Thomas (School House 1966-1973) welcomed everyone and introduced Headmaster Charles Fillingham, who said the school prayer before lunch.

Peter also welcomed Sean Morgan, Head of the Senior School, and Mark Penney, Head of the Preparatory School, who joined guests for the afternoon. The lunch was very well received, with plenty of conversation, laughter and opportunities to catch up with old friends.

After lunch, Charles gave an update on life at Solihull School, sharing news of another successful year and revealing that the School had achieved its best-ever examination results.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the introduction of the 11 newcomers. Peter invited each guest to share a brief update on what they had been doing since leaving Solihull, leading to some fascinating stories and helping old friends reconnect.

A big thank you goes to Mike Smith (Fetherston 1956-1964) for organising another successful event. Judging by the lively atmosphere and positive feedback from those attending, it was an afternoon thoroughly enjoyed by all.
