We are sad to announce the passing of Jill Spurrell on 19 March 2026. Jill was a much‑loved peripatetic violin teacher at Solihull School from 1972-2004. She joined initially teaching four days a week before moving into a full‑time role. Over the decades, she inspired generations of young musicians, teaching violin and viola from the Junior School upwards. Her influence on the school’s string community was profound, not only through her own dedication, but also through her sons, Christopher, Mark, and Adrian, who each rose to prominence in the Sixth Form as gifted string players.
