Last Friday, the FUTURES Seminar welcomed back Cerys Stansfield (Jago 2010–2018), former Head of School, for an inspiring session with pupils from Thirds to Upper Sixth.
After leaving Solihull, Cerys studied Modern Foreign Languages at Selwyn College, Cambridge, before embarking on a dynamic career in technology policy. Today, she works as a Tech Policy Analyst in the Global Government Advisory Practice at Access Partnership, a leading global tech public policy firm. Her role focuses on helping public and private organisations shape international policy and navigate debates on the development and ethical use of digital technologies.
Cerys shared her journey from languages to tech, offering valuable insights into the fast evolving world of technology and its impact on global governance. Pupils were captivated by her expertise and enthusiasm, sparking thoughtful questions at the end of the session. The seminar provided practical guidance for those considering careers in technology, policy, or international relations.
A huge thank you to Cerys for returning to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders!
Our FUTURES team works hard to produce a varied programme of FUTURES Friday Seminars, designed to appeal to a broad range of pupils. We have a programme of FUTURES Friday Seminars, and so if you are interested in taking part, Mrs Chillcott would be grateful to hear from you: ChillcottR@SolSch.org.uk. There is no need to be an experienced public speaker, or particularly senior in your organisation, as what we are looking for is a taster of ‘real life’ within various sectors.
