It was a pleasure to welcome RAF Wing Commander Adam Collins (Windsor 1985-1996) and RAF Wing Commander Thomas Bates (Windsor 1990-2001) back to Solihull School for our Remembrance Service yesterday.
Adam and Tom inspected the Combined Cadet Force, which was led by Cadet Sergeant Majors Edward and Evie (UVI) and laid wreathes on behalf of all serving Old Silhillians at the War Memorial, in front of 1,100 senior school pupils, staff and invited guests - as well as 500 prep school pupils at our Saint Martin's campus who were participating in the service via livestream.
Former pupils were represented at the event by OSA President Simon Westwood, who also laid a wreath, alongside the Headmaster Charles Fillingham; the Bursar Richard Bate; President of the Saint Martin's Old Girls Association Paula Loneragan; President of the Solihull School Parents' Association Aneesa Ahmed; Governor Ian Ralph; and Heads of School Isabella and Tom (UVI).
A rendition of the Last Post was played by Izzy (IV), followed by a two-minute silence, the Reveille played by Tristan (III) and a Roll of Honour, before Mr Fillingham recited the traditional tribute to The Fallen. The Act of Remembrance was followed by a Sixth Form Chapel Service led by Chaplain, Reverend Rachel Hill-Brown.
