The recent FUTURES Friday Seminar at Solihull School was a resounding success, thanks to the participation of esteemed alumni and professionals from Close Brothers, a leading UK merchant banking group.

Nic Heath (Fetherston 1983-1988), Katie Craddock (Fetherston 2013-2015), and Charlie Anthony (Jago 2012-2024) returned to their alma mater to share their experiences and insights with Thirds and Upper Sixth students. Their presentation focused on the apprenticeship programme offered by Close Brothers, providing students with a comprehensive overview of the opportunities available.

Charlie Anthony, who began his apprenticeship with Close Brothers in September, captivated the audience with his enthusiasm and firsthand account of the programme. He detailed the qualities Close Brothers seeks in candidates and the selection process, offering invaluable advice to aspiring applicants.

The seminar was an inspiring event, leaving students motivated and better informed about potential career paths. The school extends its heartfelt thanks to Nic, Katie, and Charlie for their time and dedication in supporting the next generation of professionals.

Our FUTURES team works hard to produce a varied programme of FUTURES Friday Seminars, designed to appeal to a broad range of pupils. We have a programme of FUTURES Friday Seminars, and so if you are interested in taking part, Mrs Chillcott would be grateful to hear from you: ChillcottR@SolSch.org.uk. There is no need to be an experienced public speaker, or particularly senior in your organisation, as what we are looking for is a taster of ‘real life’ within various sectors.
