Reunions are always special but the one held on Saturday 8th June 2024, for the those who left between 1960 - 1979, was particularly joyful but you don’t need to take our word for it. Here are some of the comments we received from those who were kind enough to write to us this week
From someone who left the School almost exactly 60 years ago, the opportunity to have such a tour and hospitality is very much appreciated. The grounds are totally recognisable, but the buildings and what they contain are a revelation. The pupils of today have such a fantastic base from which to learn, and the comfort they enjoy is without doubt unsurpassed. My memory, as a boarder, of a cross country run first thing in the morning, followed by a cold shower then breakfast illustrates the relative privations we endured! The younger generation of today don't realise how lucky they are.
What a wonderful afternoon….. I met a lot of old faces I hadn’t seen for over 55 years.
It was a pleasure to return and to appreciate all the new facilities and to see how the school is thriving.
It was really good to see so many faces from the past ! I believe I am correct in saying that this was the first reunion to include 1969 leavers so long overdue ! It was particularly special to a few of us who joined the School in in 1959 aged 8 in the then Preparatory Form - there was only a one form intake at that age and there were 17 of us in total - 5 of us were present on Saturday !
We are also grateful to the following former staff who came back to support the event Martin Ayers, John Barrett, Arthur Brooker and Jill Godsall.
