Dear Parents, Carers, Alumni and Friends of Solihull School,
Through our longstanding commitment to hosting Holocaust, & other genocides, education events, we have been granted the opportunity to host a special screening of Survivor, soon after its recent premiere at Cannes & then at the Barbican in London.
In partnership with Lemon Soul, are very pleased to invite you to join us for the world school’s premiere of this outstanding new animated film. (survivorfilm.com/trailer)
Based on the compelling memoir of Ivor Perl BEM, Chicken Soup Under the Tree, the film documents his survival against all the odds. Ivor grew up in a family with eight siblings yet only he and his brother Alec survived the Holocaust.
The visual and auditory intricacy of Zoom Rockman’s unique animation style captivates viewers, as it follows 12-year-old Ivor’s journey from his small town in Hungary to the gates of Auschwitz, Kaufering, Allach, and Dachau. Survivor bears testament to many of the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust, as well as to the unbreakable bond of two young brothers and their miraculous survival.
There will be a post-screening Q&A with the award-winning director and animator, Zoom Rockman, and with the Executive Producer and former Solihull School pupil, Nigel Canin.
Survivor is a 40-minute film, suitable for viewers 12 years and above, with a 12A rating.
